Check out Tourism’s list of over 50 ways to enjoy the holidays
Though Newport News seldom gets that white Christmas that Bing Crosby dreams of, we do have our fair share of seasonal cheer that would make even Scrooge smile. Traditional tree lightings, drive-through and walkable light shows, ice skating, gingerbread villages, and decorated historic homes, are just a few ways to indulge in the magic of the holidays in our city on the James.
The city’s popular annual events have returned to illuminate throughout. Don’t miss Celebration in Lights at Newport News Park, Lights at the Fountain in City Center, and ARTech Lights in the Southeast Community.
This Saturday, Dec. 3, from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m., join The Mariners’ Museum for the annual Wreathing of the Lions at Lion’s Bridge. Enjoy cookies, hot chocolate, and holiday crafts, as well as a special visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus.
The Peninsula Community Theater is hosting “Sounds of the Season,” a holiday musical celebration. Performances feature beloved holiday favorites, less traditional songs, and a sprinkling of musical theater. Get all the details on the Theater website.
