I took the opportunity to stop by the new Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers restaurant that opened in Yorktown this morning.
The staff was still a little green, but the lined moved fairly quickly and everyone was pleasant and welcoming despite the miserable cold rainy conditions.

Being a lover of Chick-fil-a, I was excited to try their 3 Chicken Finger Sandwich Combo. I also ordered a side of coleslaw. The combo included fries and a drink for $9.99, the coleslaw side was an extra $1.35 which I thought was a little high for a side.
The sandwich was huge! Three very crispy chicken fingers on a fantastic toasted bun with lettuce and Cane’s sauce. The chicken was delicious, but not a strongly flavored or spiced batter, but juicy inside and crispy on the outside. Lettuce was fresh and crisp, the sauce seemed mayonnaise based to me (not a huge mayo fan) but it tied the sandwich together nicely. One thing I appreciated was there was a total lack of grease/greasiness or burn in the throat that I often experience at other chains such as KFC or Zaxby’s, there wasn’t even an spot of oil.
The fries however were a big disappointment as they were barely salted and they seemed like a basic crinkle cut that you can get frozen at any grocery store…my dog Molly didn’t complain though.
The lemonade was only ok; it seemed watered down and lacked the tangy sweet combination that is beloved from Chick-fil-a.

The coleslaw on the other hand was amazing! After one forkful, I dumped it one my sandwich which made it incredible! It was crunchy, creamy and slightly sweet.
I would give the sandwich and coleslaw a solid 4.5 stars…I will definitely be back, wouldn’t buy the combo again due to the lackluster quality of fries and lemonade.
