City Center at Oyster Point comes alive this weekend with Newport News’ first German Christmas Market followed by the Lights at the Fountain holiday tree lighting.
Sister Cities of Newport News invites you to experience a German Christmas Marketin the heart of City Center at Oyster Point on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 1-8 pm.
Inspired by the Weihnachtsmarrkt (Christmas Market) held in our sister city of Greifswald and throughout Germany, this small, quaint market is sure to become a local holiday tradition. Vendors will offer handmade items for sale, from wreaths to ornaments, quilts, stationary, botanicals, and paintings.
Volunteers will be serving up Tradition Brewings’ Wit’ner Wonderland and warm Glühwein for $5 each, and take home a hand-thrown souvenir cup for just $10. Listen to live German music from 4-6 p.m. while you select the perfect fresh Christmas tree grown right here in Newport News on Harpersville Road!
Stay for the tree lighting at 6:30 p.m., followed by the thrilling sound and light show at the fountain, and experience the new interactive luminous musical seesaw art installation.
