Families and children of all ages are invited to Newport News Park on Saturday, May 7, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. for the 31st Annual Newport News Children’s Festival of Friends! This year’s festival features over 100 hands-on activities and attractions including fabulous inflatables, the Fun Bus, make-and-take crafts, trackless train rides, live stage entertainment, and a touch-a-truck display from Newport News Public Works. Children’s costumed characters will also be at the event, as well as friendly animals from Jack’s Jungle and Barnyard on Wheels!
Live children’s entertainment on the Arboretum Stage includes: Katherine Johnson Elementary School – Crimson Thunder Drumline, Rainbow Puppet Productions, Illstyle & Peace Productions (hip hop dancers), Uncle Ty-Rone the Kid’s Comedian, and the Newport News City Arts dance program. Guests who work up an appetite, can enjoy food vendors selling festival favorites, including: pizza, cupcakes, grilled cheese, shaved ice, funnel cakes, seafood, and ice cream.
