This past week, The Bulletin Post had the privilege to interview Will Auman and Stevie Carpenter, the owners of Hilton’s newest business, The Hilton Creamery.
Auman, a business manager at Smithfield Foods and Carpenter a Hampton Police Officer, are the creative minds behind the popular Crazy Pops Gourmet Popsicles and like many small businesses when COVID hit in 2019, were faced with shut-down. Without outlets to sell their popsicles, they spent the pandemic working their day jobs and they began working on the idea of opening an ice cream shop in Hilton Village.

When I interviewed the men in their shop at 10349 Warwick Blvd, the final inspections and finishing touches were being completed. The first delivery of 24 ice cream flavors from Hershey’s, was arriving within hours.

“We really love the Hilton neighborhood,” Auman stated, “Stevie and I both grew up in Newport News and since I was a child, it’s been a favorite of mine, so historic and peaceful.”
“We’re really looking forward to being part of the Hilton neighborhood,” Carpenter stated, “We never really looked anywhere else, Hilton was our first and only choice.”
If all goes well, the plan is to move Crazy Pops production and headquarters into the shop in the summer months and sell the popsicles out of the shop as well. Plans are in the works to accommodate online shopping and order/pickup options once their web presence is finalized.
The target opening date is February 5th; make plans to visit The Hilton Creamery soon. I know that when I left the owners, to finalize their shop, it was with an extremely strong urge to scream for ice cream!
