Jamestown Feed & Seed will be closing its doors December 31, 2021, owner Shirley Hatten announced recently, after nearly 40 years in business.
“We have weathered the storm for far too long and have made this decision after much contemplation,” Ms. Hatten remarked. “Competition from big box stores, the shift to online shopping and endless shipping and product availability issues have helped fuel this decision. As the owner, I am also well past retirement age. All of us here have decided it is time to close this chapter of our lives.”
Jamestown Feed & Seed opened in 1982 at 7348 Richmond Rd, Williamsburg. Ms. Hatten took ownership in 2008. They are an award winning, locally owned business that has deep roots in the community, providing customers with essential products to feed pets, horses, wild birds, and to help them have a beautiful lawn, grow herbs, plant a bountiful garden, or dress up flower beds.
Hatten expressed appreciation for her friends and loyal customers. “Thank you for your unwavering support of us for so many years. We hope you will come in and take advantage of our Going Out of Business Sale beginning November 26. All in-store items will be priced at 30% off. Warehouse items will be 10% off, excluding deliveries. Again, we thank you for your patronage through the years and wish each of you a wonderful holiday season.”
