Students who are pursuing a career in criminal justice or law enforcement are eligible for a scholarship through the Virginia Sheriffs’ Institute (VSI).

Sheriff Gabe Morgan encourages Newport News students to apply if they’ll be attending a Virginia college or university in the upcoming school year.

Full-time students who meet eligibility requirements will receive $1,000 and part-time students will receive $500 to help them pursue their higher education goals.

A letter of recommendation from Sheriff Morgan is one of the application requirements.  Interested students should call 757-926-3992 to schedule an appointment to speak with him.  Due to COVID-19 in the community, in-person interviews are not possible.

Complete information on the scholarship can be found on the Sheriff’s Office website

May 1 is the deadline for students to submit their completed application.   Note:  Interested students who do not live in Newport News should contact the sheriff’s office where they live to see if it is participating.

DONATIONS

The Bulletin Post is the result from years of ideas and conversations between neighbors. Over the years
we’ve noticed the lack of uplifting, positive community news and stories in the local press.
In February of 2020 that opportunity presented itself, and we felt that God had been leading us to begin
this online newspaper and we dove straight in.
We were homeschooled through high school and own several of our own businesses, but more
importantly, we have a passion for our community. If you share this love for the Newport News and surrounding areas you can send a little our way through donations. Thank you.
