James City County is pleased to announce that Chesapeake Payment Systems (CPS) has announced renovation of the former Farm Fresh located on Norge Lane. CPS has been located in New Town since 2014 and in 2018 they expanded their current space’s footprint. CPS includes the merchant services team, offers credit card processing and point of sale solutions to businesses.
The new location will relocate CPS staff of 16 and consolidate two other divisions of Chesapeake Bank: the Information Technology Team and the Solutions Center, which is responsible for customer support and online banking. CPS is a subsidiary of Chesapeake Bank.
Chesapeake Bank purchased the 51,233 square foot space at 115 Norge Lane in June. One third of the space will be modified by Henderson, Inc. to accommodate CPS space needs following the design of Guernsey Tingle. The remaining space will be later leased to the public.
“We can come in and occupy this building for less than it would take for us to design and do site work on a totally new space,” said Leigh Houghland, Regional Executive and SVP of Chesapeake Bank.
“There’s an advantage of being able to consolidate several groups under one roof,” said Ginny Hartmann, Financing and Facilities Manager with CPS. “We’ll have better collaboration and communication as a team and across departments — with room to grow.”
Additionally, there will be flex offices for Chesapeake Bank team members working in the Williamsburg region for the day and a large meeting room that will be open to community non-profits when health and safety guidelines permit. Chesapeake Bank operates sixteen offices; four in the Northern Neck, three in the Middle Peninsula, five in Williamsburg/James City County and three in Richmond.
The Chesapeake Bank Payments and Solution Center is expected to open in April 2021.
