If you’ve ever visited the Virginia Living Museum (VLM) and wished you could have some of their beautiful plants and shrubs at your home, now’s your chance! The VLM is hosting its 33rd Annual Fall Native Plant Sale onsite September 19-20 and September 26-27, with online sales September 21-24. The sale offers 134 beautiful and unusual native perennials, vines, shrubs and trees onsite in the Virginia Living Museum Conservation Garden and online at thevlm.org.
The Museum’s experienced team of horticulture staff and volunteers propagate plants in the Holt Native Plant Conservatory at the VLM and many are not yet available in the commercial nursery trade. The wide variety of plants available includes options for many garden sites and styles, from wet ponds to dry rock gardens, and for attracting a variety of native wildlife.
Shop the sale in person both weekends from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Orders placed online can be picked up September 26 and 27 between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Museum members have early access to the sale, with the ability to order online beginning September 14 and shop in-person on September 17 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. To see the listing of the plants available for purchase to learn more about their blooming periods and needs, visit the VLM website.
