The July Regular Meeting of the Board of Supervisors will be held in person at the Harry M. Ward Auditorium at Mathews County High School at 6:00 PM on July 28, 2020.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19 and encourage public safety and health, masks will be required, and social distancing measures will be in place throughout the building. The Harry M. Ward Auditorium may safely hold up to 250 citizens (including staff and elected officials). Masks and hand sanitizer will be available at the entrance of the auditorium.
We encourage and welcome citizens who wish to make comments on the portion of the Board’s agenda known as “Opportunity for Citizen Comment” and/ or “Public Hearing” topics to submit their comments via the online form available at [https://www.mathewscountyva.gov/219/Submit-Public-Comment-to-the-Board-of-Su]. Citizens without internet access may call in their comments and leave a message at 804-725-7172. Once the agenda is posted on Friday, July 24, citizens have the opportunity to view the Public Hearing cases, agenda items, and all attachments before submitting a comment. Citizens may submit 1 comment per Public Hearing topic and 1 comment per Opportunity for Citizen Comment period. The allotted comment space is equivalent to the 3-minute allotted time of an in-person Board meeting. The citizen comment portal will close at 12 p.m. on July 28, 2020 in order to properly prepare said comments for the Board to view in a timely manner, prior to the Board meeting. All comments received will be distributed to the Board and will be made a part of the Board’s official public record.
Citizens will be provided the opportunity to offer comment to the Board of Supervisors on Public Hearing topics and the Opportunity for Citizen Comment during the July 28, 2020 meeting. Comments shall be limited to one opportunity of three minutes for the Public Hearing and for the Opportunity for Citizen Comment. Citizens are not permitted to yield their time to any other individual. The Chair may advise a speaker when 30 seconds remain of the specified time to conclude comments.
